UC employees enrolled in UC’s PPO health plans, UCCare, Core and the Health Savings Plan

RE: UC employees enrolled in UC’s PPO health plans, UCCare, Core and the Health Savings Plan

We have been monitoring Anthem Blue Cross contract negotiations with Cottage Health over the past few months and have some good news to share with you today.  

In November of 2023, Anthem Blue Cross announced that it would be terminating its contract with Cottage Health, effective March 1, 2024. While this had no immediate impact on coverage, we were concerned about future impacts.

Today we learned Anthem Blue Cross has rescinded this contract termination with Cottage Health.  UC employees enrolled in UC’s PPO health plans, UCCare, Core and the Health Savings Plan, may continue to use Cottage Health and Pacific Diagnostic Labs as in-network providers. 

Anthem Blue Cross and UC Health negotiations continue however, as a reminder, they do not impact any of our members who are enrolled in UC’s PPO plans.  These plans are governed by a separate UC-Anthem agreement and this agreement is effective until 2025.
