Re:  Union Strike Activity- October 23-25, 2018

AFSCME, the union that represents service (SX) and patient care technical employees (EX) on our campus, has called for a 3 day strike by patient care technical employees on October 23-25, 2018.  In addition to the primary strike notice, the University has received sympathy strike notices from AFSCME for service unit employees (SX) and from UPTE for Technical (TX), Research (RX) and Health Care (HX) unit employees indicating that each of these units will strike in sympathy for the same duration as the primary patient care technical unit strike.

The campus is making preparations to respond to any service disruptions that may result from the strike  Guidance on planning for potential staffing reductions has been provided to managers and supervisors.

The Office of the President has posted information about UC- AFSCME negotiations at:  https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/labor/news/2018/10/facts-about-ucafscme-negotiations-and-afscmes-october-2325-strike.html

If you have questions or concerns about potential strike impacts, please consult your divisional control points or Employee & Labor Relations.
