RE:      Notice of Formal Review/ Employee Comment for PPSM 30 and Technical Updates to PPSM 21

Colleagues,

I am writing to notify you of proposed changes to Personnel Policies for Staff Member (PPSM) Policy 30, Compensation.  I am also writing to notify you that technical updates to PPSM Policy 21 (Selection and Appointment) were recently published.

PPSM 30, Compensation

The University of California is proposing revisions to Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM) Policy 30 – Compensation Types of Appointment, which applies to staff employees in the Professional & Support Staff and Managers & Senior Professionals personnel groups.  To ensure consistent pay practices, language has been added to the Procedures section affirming that, as locations transition to UC Path, General and Merit Increases based on a percentage increase will be rounded up.

The current policy is posted on UCnet at: http://policy.ucop.edu/doc/4010394/PPSM-21

The proposed policy is posted on UCnet at: http://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/tools-and-services/administrators/policies/proposed/ppsm-30.html

Employees covered by this policy who wish to provide comments on the proposed revisions to PPSM 30 may submit them by February 23, 2018 to Amy Arnold at Amy.Arnold@hr.ucsb.edu

PPSM 21, Selection and Appointment

PPSM 21 was most recently revised and reissued by the University of California in July 2017. Last November, PPSM 21 had undergone a technical review to bring the University in compliance with California Assembly Bill 1008 (FEHA requirements) which is effective January 1, 2018. The policy has been updated with additional language regarding the notice of the preliminary decision provided to the candidate if the conviction history disqualifies the candidate from employment.
