RE:         A letter from President Napolitano regarding new retirement program for future employees

I am writing to let you know that President Napolitano has released her proposal for a revised retirement program for faculty and staff that she will be bringing to the Regents later this month, which includes a new set of retirement benefits for future UC employees hired on or after July 1, 2016.  Details of the proposal, along with frequently asked questions, are available online at:  https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/compensation-and-benefits/2016-retirement-benefits/rotf-fact-sheet.pdf

A couple of important reminders about the proposal for a revised retirement program:

The new retirement benefits will apply only to future UC employees hired on or after July 1, 2016 – retirement benefits for current employees and retirees are not affected;
Retirement benefits for union-represented employees are determined through the collective bargaining process.
