RE:       Episode 2: Training for New Benefits Eligibility Rules, effective January 1, 2016

We have added an additional session for Staff/Students Appointments on February 9, from 1:30 to 3:00 for those of you who are currently on a waiting list or prefer another option.

How to Register:
Please register for the training in the UC Learning Center.  Log in on the Learning Center https://learningcenter.ucsb.edu/ and search for "Episode 2” Select from the staff or academic session you wish to attend.

As you know, UC has new benefits eligibility rules effective January 1, 2016 in connection with the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  In our first training, Episode 1, we discussed the new rules, the groups of employees eligible for benefits, how to monitor continuing eligibility and introduced new concepts such as “measurement periods.

In Episode 2, we will present a brief overview of Episode 1 and share any changes or clarifications as the result of UCOP’s continued effort to understand these complicated rules.  The primary focus will be on working through more advanced scenarios such as employees/students who move from one eligibility group to another, job changes and breaks in service.  There will be 2 different types of training sessions available, one for departments who primarily handle staff/student appointments and one for departments who primarily handle academic/student academic appointments.

Training will be held in the Human Resources Learning Center (SAASB 3101DD). Please attend one of the following sessions:
