RE: Announcing an Enhanced New Employee Orientation (NEO)

Human Resources is pleased to announce the launch of an enhanced New Employee Orientation (NEO) session for new hires to UC Santa Barbara!  Beginning Tuesday, September 6th, NEO will be offered from 9am to 4pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month, with a one-hour break for participants over the lunch hour.

In our redesign of NEO, we have incorporated feedback from a variety of sources, including  Gaucho U participants, Staff Assembly, Chancellor’s Staff Advisory Council and the Resource Center for Sexual & Gender Diversity.  Our objective is to utilize NEO as a first step in welcoming new employees to our campus by equipping them with important information about campus resources and services, promoting the accomplishments and culture of UC Santa Barbara, introducing key UC policies and mandatory training  requirements, and educating new employees on their benefits enrollment and retirement program choices (as applicable).

9am to 12noon:      Introduction to UCSB

1pm to 4pm:        Benefits/Retirement Orientation

Studies show that it is important for new employees to quickly acclimate to their new work environment, which is essential to helping a new employee become motivated, satisfied and productive.  Human Resources strongly recommends that hiring managers make arrangements to allow their new hires to attend the NEO session as soon as possible following their date of hire.
