Retirement Workshops

UC Retirement System Workshop - 1976 Tier (Computer Lab Setting)

Please see the HR Department-wide Training Schedule for current workshop offerings.

The workshop will cover retirement related topics such as:

  • An overview of the 1976 Tier of the UC Retirement System
  • how UC and Employee contributions work in UCRP, a Defined Benefit Plan;
  • eligibility requirements
  • what are the factors that determine your monthly payment
  • how to do a retirement estimate online (requires your username and password)
  • how to read the information on your retirement estimate 

No reservations are needed, however, seating is limited and the laptops are on a first come first serve basis.  We will have 15 laptops available for those of you who would like the “hands on” experience; otherwise you can just follow along as we demonstrate how to use the estimators online. One of the retirement estimator tools requires that you log in to At Your Service, so please be prepared to enter your username and password.  We will not be able to reset passwords during this workshop.

A Fidelity Representative, will use the last 15 minutes to discuss the retirement savings programs, answer questions and assist those who wish to log in to their Fidelity account. Please have your Fidelity login information with you.

UC Retirement Choice Program Workshop (2016 Tier)

Workshop Schedule for UC Retirement Choice Program

All newly eligible 2016 Tier employees have a choice of primary retirement benefit options, with costs shared by you and UC. Participation in one of the options is required, and you choose the one that’s right for you.

If you need more information to make your choice or want to learn more about the plan you've already selected, please come to this workshop.

No reservations required.

Reminder....What you need to do

You will need to choose a primary UC retirement benefit option within 90 days of the date you become eligible. In general, your eligibility date is your hire date. If you are uncertain about your eligibility date, please call the UC Retirement Administration Service Center at 1-800-888-8267.

  • You can compare the options and make your selection at
  • If you don’t make an active choice within the 90-day period, you automatically will be enrolled in Pension Choice.

Preparing for Retirement - Webinars and Videos

Presented by representatives from the Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC), this webinar is for UCRP members considering retirement from UC within the next five years, covers topics such as understanding the UCRP pension benefits, retirement savings and retiree health coverage.

Webinars - take place on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month from 10:00am - 12:30pm.

Retiree Health Insurance - Planning for Retirement

Understanding retiree health insurance is important when planning your retirement.  If you are preparing to retire or just thinking about it, please join us to learn about the health insurance options currently available to UC retirees.

  • How does Medicare coordinate with retiree insurance?
  • How do you enroll in Medicare?
