Summary of Upcoming Wage Implementations

As you know the Wage Implementation Season is upon us.  The upcoming wage implementations impact a number of the bargaining units and involve lump sum payments, range adjustments, and/or step increases.  These implementations will be handled centrally by the Human Resources and Payroll offices.  We will keep you informed of any updates or changes. 

 

After the EDB has been updated – we will let you know when that happens – we request that you please go to PPS and review the accuracy of the changes on the impacted employees, i.e., confirm that the steps and pay rates match, all eligible employees were updated, etc.

Summary of Upcoming Wage Implementations by Month and Employee Group

 

APRIL 2014

CX/Clerical (Teamsters)

  • $13 Lump Sum payment
  • To be processed in the pay period beginning 03/30/2014 with a pay date 04/23/2014

 

RX/Research Professionals (UPTE)

  • 4% One-time Lump Sum payment (Applies to BW PAID RX staff only)
  • $100 Lump Sum payment
  • To be processed in the pay period beginning 04/27/14 with a pay date 05/21/2014

 

TX/Technical (UPTE)

  • 4% One-time Lump Sum payment (Applies to BW PAID TX staff only)
  • $100 Lump Sum payment
  • To be processed in the pay period beginning 04/27/14 with a pay date 05/21/2014

 

MAY 2014

SX/Service (AFSCME)

  • 4.5% Range Adjustment
  • $200 Lump Sum payment
  • To be processed in the pay period beginning 05/11/14 with a pay date 06/04/2014

 

EX/Patient Care Technical (AFSCME)

  • 4.5% Range Adjustment
  • To be processed in the pay period beginning 05/11/14 with a pay date 06/04/2014
  • 3% One-time Lump Sum payment – scheduled payout date to be determined

 

JUNE – JULY 2014 (Effective dates/pay out details to follow)

NX/Nurses (CNA)

  • One-step increase (~2%)

 

PA/Police Officers (FUPOA)

  • 3% range adjustment

 

CX/Clerical (Teamsters)

  • 3% range adjustment
  • One-step increase (~2%) for employees w/10+ years or two step increase (~4%) for employees w/20+ years

     

EX/Patient Care Technical (AFSCME)

  • One-step increase (~2%)

 

      SX/Service (AFSCME)

  • 3% Range Adjustment
  • One-step increase (~2%)

 

99/Non-Represented

  • 3% general salary increase for eligible non-represented staff

 

STUDENT and NON-UC STUDENT TITLES

  • Minimum wage will increase to $9.00 per hour, effective July 1, 2014.

UCOP will be providing programming assistance to the campus to automate the EDB update to comply with the minimum wage increase.  The program will identify active appointments with an hourly rate of less than $9/hour, and it will create a new distribution with a pay rate of $9/hour beginning June 22nd, 2014 (based on the nearest full biweekly pay period prior to July 1, 2014).  More details concerning the minimum wage implementation will follow.  The minimum wage increase will apply to all employees earning less than $9.00 per hour.  Please refer to the memo sent to the PPS ListServ on February 25, 2014 for more detailed information: http://www.hr.ucsb.edu/memos/2014/minimum-wage-california-will-increase-800hour-900hour-effective-july-1-2014.
