Leave of Absence for Staff

Medical Leave

Medical Leave is for your OWN serious health condition.

The Leave of Absence Coordinator provides guidance and counseling on leave entitlements. Some possible leave entitlements, include:

LEAVE TYPE ELIGIBILITY ENTITLEMENT PAY

Family & Medical Leave (FML)

Have worked for the UC for a year or more AND worked 1,250 hours during the last 12 months 12 work weeks per calendar year FML is unpaid leave, however, you may be able to use your accrued sick and vacation leave. Refer to CBA or PPSM.

California Family Rights Act (CFRA)

Same as FML

Same as FML (runs at the same time as FML), however, if taken after PDL, CFRA is an additional 12 weeks for "baby bonding" CFRA is unpaid leave, however, you may be able to use your accrued sick and vacation leave. Refer to CBA or PPSM.

Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL)

Pregnant or are disabled by pregnancy/ childbirth

Four months per pregnancy PDL is unpaid leave, however, you may be able to use your accrued sick and vacation leave. Refer to CBA or PPSM.

Other Leaves

A leave other than FML, CFRA or PDL may be available. Refer to CBA or PPSM.

When you click the link to request leave you will be redirected to the HR ServiceNow portal. To help us provide you with effective and timely customer service, please login to the secure portal using your UCSBNetID and password. 

If you are unable to login contact the ETSC service center via http://etsc.ucsb.edu or call (805) 893-5000 to reset your UCSBNetID password.
