RE: Summer Childcare and Camp Resources for Campus Employees

We know many are struggling with limited summer camp and childcare options.

Summer camps and classes have traditionally given children an opportunity to develop new skills, remain engaged with academics, have fun and make new friends. The task of finding and selecting programs appropriate for your child and your budget can be daunting in a normal year. Not only does the pandemic further complicate this process, but it may have also altered what some families need from summer programs, given the challenges of the past school year.

The CDC recently released additional guidelines regarding summer camps, outlining strategies that camp programs can use to help maintain healthy environments and operations, lower the risk of COVID-19 spread in their programs, prepare for when someone is sick with COVID-19, and support coping and resilience. We have therefore updated Myfamily.ucsb.edu to highlight those camps that, as of June 3, still have openings available for 2021. We hope that this is helpful as you continue to make plans.

If you need assistance navigating any of these resources, or need help with workplace adjustments related to childcare concerns, please submit a ServiceNow ticket request to Work-Life, or email me directly shira.minerd@hr.ucsb.edu.
