The UCSB Emeriti Association has a long history of supporting undergraduate students. Thanks to the generosity of our members, we have established the UCSB Emeriti Association Promise Scholarship. This scholarship, in the amount of $2,500, is awarded annually to both an incoming freshman Promise Scholar and a Promise Scholar transfer student. A 4-year student receives a total of $10,000, and a transfer student a total of $5,000. Promise Scholars are high achieving students with diverse academic goals who are admitted to UCSB on their own merits through the usual application procedure. They are frequently first generation students, with high financial need, who come from under-resourced high schools in California. Emeriti Association Promise Scholars are selected by the Director of the Promise Scholars Program with approval from the Emeriti Association Vice President. Scholarships are added to other types of aid students receive and are used to help cover education related expenses such as tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, technology needs, medical expenses, etc. By awarding the scholarship, the Emeriti Association is able to help a meritorious student and at the same time support the campus’s goal of furthering social justice and inclusion.
